Below is a link of where to buy some very good birds, may be a bit expensive, and they should be able to give you some good advice on training. From what i remember, if you were to buy birds from the link, they would be kept just for breeding, and you would train their offspring.

    Best Wishes

    Hi birdys.s…,

Firstly, find someone local in your area who races pigeons, they’ll be able to advice you on your local pigeon racing clubs.

After joining your club, meet and talk to as many members as you can, don’t be affaid to ask questions (if you don’t ask, you never know, lol)
Find out who has the best racing pigeons in your area, and order some young birds from them in the spring.

Pigeons are trained when they are young, at about 5/6 weeks, they are let out of their lofts to fly with the adult birds to get to know the area they live in. When they start coming back on their own, the owner will place the young birds in a wicker basket and take them a couple of miles away and release them. The owners do this upto 7 times a week, getting further away from the loft each time. The pigeons learn the landmarks and follow these to find their way home.
Whith luck, you’ll hatch some very fast flyers.
